Prof. Kellermann elected ‚Vice President Technical Directions‘

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Walter Kellermann has been elected  ‚Vice President Technical Directions‘ of the IEEE Signal Processing Society for the period from 2016 to 2018. As one of four Vice Presidents of the Society he will oversee the activities of the Society’s technical community, as embodied in its Technical Committees, and will be responsible for shaping the future technical profile of the Society. The IEEE Signal Processing Society with more than 17000 members is currently the fourth-largest out of 39 IEEE Societies with a total of more than 430000 IEEE members.

CME-Student obtains DAAD award for excellent grades and social commitment

The Commission for Internationalization of FAU has selected the CME student Anna Moldovan as a recipient of the DAAD award for excellent grades and social commitment. Anna is going to be awarded during the Deus Academicus Ceremony on November 4, 2014.

Prof. Kaup named an IEEE Fellow

Dr.-Ing. André Kaup, Professor and Head of the Chair of Multimedia Communications and Signal Processing, has been named an IEEE Fellow effective January 2013. He is recognized „for contributions to video coding and object-based video signal processing“.

The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. The total number selected in any one year cannot exceed one-tenth of one- percent of the total voting membership.

The IEEE is the world’s leading professional organization for advancing technology for humanity. Through its 400,000 members in 160 countries, the IEEE is a leading authority on a wide variety of areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics.
